Naif al-Sudairi, the Saudi ambassador to Jordan, has presented his credentials as the inaugural Saudi ambassador to the Palestinian Authority in a ceremony today. Al-Sudairi will take this new role alongside his previous one as the Saudi ambassador to Jordan. Additionally, he will hold the title of Saudi consul in East Jerusalem. It’s worth noting that he will not maintain a permanent presence in the West Bank and will continue his operations from Jordan.
This symbolic gesture undoubtedly echoes the ongoing discussions surrounding normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia. It can be seen as a measure to balance out this process.
It’s worth noting that for the Saudi ambassador to enter the PA territories, he has to pass through an Israeli border crossing… #JustSaying
