The Azeri Ministry of Defense announced the end of the military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh after separatists in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, apparently with Russian mediation, agreed to lay down their weapons and abandon all military positions in the region.
The ceasefire has taken effect, and according to Azerbaijani officials, negotiations for the merger of the Nagorno-Karabakh region with Azerbaijan will commence tomorrow.
One day of battle, while not particularly significant, proved sufficient for Azerbaijan to make substantial progress toward its ultimate goal: connecting the Nakhchivan region to the rest of the country, thus establishing territorial continuity from the capital of Baku to Azerbaijan’s sole land border with its closest ally, Turkey.
