Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (the new Jabhat al-Nasra) announced that Abu Mariya Alakhtani, number 2 in the organization, was killed with several of his companions when an ISIS operative detonated an explosive belt that was on his body while he was in the room where Alakhtani was staying.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is the leading and most significant Syrian rebel organization located mainly in Idlib (fighting against the Assad army and its allies – Iran, Hezbollah and the militias).
