The US State Department published the text of the agreement signed between Israel and Lebanon tonight.
The agreement has 14 articles – just like the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US. I’m not sure this is a coincidence…
Here is the summary I have compiled for you:
1. Israel and Lebanon affirm each other’s right to exist in peace, and their mutual desire to live in security as two neighboring sovereign states.
2. In a reciprocal and gradual process, the Lebanese army will restore the country’s effective sovereignty over the entire territory of Lebanon, subject to the disarmament of all non-state armed groups and the destruction of their associated infrastructure. This will allow the IDF to gradually redeploy its forces outside Lebanese territory.
3. Two pilot areas have been agreed upon between the IDF and the Lebanese Army, in which the Lebanese Army will assume security responsibility after it is certain that the non-state armed groups (i.e. Hezbollah -AA) have been disarmed and their infrastructures in these areas have been destroyed. The pilot will be expanded in the future by mutual agreement to additional areas.
4. The Lebanese government irrevocably undertakes to restore full sovereignty over its territory and to complete the complete dismantling of the armed non-state organizations on its territory and to ensure that they will not have any military or security capability or any military or security role anywhere in Lebanon.
5. Israel declares that it has no territorial ambitions in Lebanon and that the disbandment of non-state armed organizations, along with security arrangements, will eliminate any need for the presence of the IDF in Lebanon.
6. The Government of Lebanon confirms that it alone is authorized to make decisions on war and peace in Lebanon.
7. The Governments of Lebanon and Israel confirm that nothing in this framework prevents them from exercising their inherent right to self-defense and clarify that no third party may exercise this right on their behalf.
8. The two States declare that their common goal is a secure and restored Lebanon, subject to the full sovereignty of the Lebanese State. The safe return of residents to their homes and ensuring the security of the communities of northern Israel are essential conditions for long-term stability and peace.
9. The Government of Lebanon undertakes to implement a rigorous plan based on meeting objectives, which will enable the Lebanese Army to exercise full military and security control and to carry out the disbandment of all Non-state armed groups shall disarm.
10. The United States shall work to mobilize the support of the international community for the reconstruction of Lebanon.
11. Lebanon and the United States shall prevent the transfer of funds to any entity, organization, or individual affiliated with non-state armed groups, including preventing reconstruction funds from reaching these entities.
12. Upon signing the framework, the two countries shall work to establish working groups to formulate a comprehensive peace and security agreement. The two governments shall immediately establish direct and continuous channels of dialogue, mediated by the United States. The two governments shall undertake to manage the process in good faith until a full and lasting peace is achieved, which will bring security, stability, and prosperity to the peoples of Israel and Lebanon.
13. Israel and Lebanon shall undertake to take steps in good faith that will express positive intentions, including the cessation of any hostile or harmful action in the international political and legal arenas. In addition, they shall undertake to act to locate and recover the remains of missing persons and to secure the release of detainees.
14. Both governments recognize the role of the United States in supporting their efforts to bring an end to decades of conflict.
Sounds like a good start. But Qatar and Saudi Arabia are planning to build “industry” in Southern Lebanon. What good can come out of that for Israel’s security if the Sunnis are supported and will replace Shia in the long run? Those plans have Trump’s support. I would expect the Jews, Christians and Druze to respect this agreement. But Islam does not vanish with it, hence according to Taqqiya, both Sunni + Shia might stay quiet until they regained strength and then attack Israel again. Guess who will be blamed as soon as Israel will respond accordingly? All of these treaties created by western thinking have the same weak point and Trump’s deals are not different.
There are actually three very important, dark loopholes in this agreement which are both designed to endanger Israel and the Christians + Druze in Lebanon but please the Sunni or Shia front:”The current agreement states that Lebanon will need the assistance of foreign actors to meet its commitment. It does not specify which actors are involved, or how they will operate.”Let’s remember that Trump himself suggested that Al Jolanis men fight Hezbollah. And let’s not forget that Trump has a soft spot for the Sultan who would be eager to enter Lebanon in order to sit on Israel’s northern border on his path to rebuild the Ottoman Empire.
Here comes the second loophole: “The IDF is now positioned north of Beaufort Castle, in the area of the village of Tebnine, beneath which Hezbollah built its main command-and-control infrastructure in the area. Under the agreement, and the American demand, the IDF is barred from acting on its own against this infrastructure, which was built with Iranian investment of hundreds of millions of dollars. The matter will now be left to the Lebanese and the Americans to handle. “Which is exactly the reason why Katz was so adamant to point out the IDF would not leave Beaufort.Frankly, this sounds like Trump intends to save the terrorists + IRGC commander inside of this large tunnel-fortress underneath Ali Al Taher hill and will secure the existence of this terror headquarter – because it was an expensive construction. He plans to rescue the killers of Israel’s soldiers, let this sink in…:(
And finally the third loophole:”…the reconstruction of Lebanon (also with the help of additional countries that the US will recruit)…” As I mentioned in my first posting above: “Qatar and Saudi Arabia are planning to build “industry” in Southern Lebanon. What good can come out of that for Israel’s security if the Sunnis are supported and will replace Shia in the long run? Those plans have Trump’s support. I would expect the Jews, Christians and Druze to respect this agreement.” In exchange for Hezbollah Israel will have Qatar and Saudi Arabia on her northern border – these loopholes are carefully arranged traps to remove one threat by replacing it with several others and even larger ones.
