In an unrelated incident far from the rally, following an explosion in the Khan Yunis area in the southern Gaza Strip, Gazan sources report the death of Hassam Shehadeh Abu Tir, age 17, a member of the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees (an armed Gaza faction) who died while cleaning his weapon.
Unofficial sources in Gaza claim that Abu Tir is an operative of the military wing of the resistance committees.
