More details on the severe confrontation between Wagner and the Russian Ministry of Defense

Reuters reports that Yevgeny Prigozhin, the owner of Wagner, claims the Russian Army killed around 2,000 (!) of his group’s personnel. Other leading media outlets report that Prigozhin called on “true Russian citizens” to take to the streets, acquire weapons, and join Wagner, claiming to have a force of 25,000 fighters.

As a result, the Federal Security Service has opened a criminal case against Prigozhin on charges of rebellion.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that Putin is fully informed, and that all necessary steps will be taken. Russia also called on Wagner mercenaries to refuse Prigozhin’s orders and aid in his arrest.

Simultaneously, there are reports of significant Russian troop mobilization and concentration in the Russian city of Rostov.

This appears to be one of the most significant events in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine in recent months.
