As I have previously argued on multiple occasions, the Middle East is full of shrewd negotiators. Money has the potential to acquire almost anything; it’s merely a matter of negotiation. Everyone engages in transactions and compromises their principles. Following one’s interests becomes paramount, often overpowering the professed Arab solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Those who favor normalization with Israel will offer token gestures to the Palestinians before moving forward. Everything has its price. Trump’s approach – the business approach – certainly fits the region.
